Kunguma Kodu (1988)
Drama • 2h 8m
Shot mostly in picturesque Ooty among green locales . Nalini does not have any parents and lives in a hostel pursuing her studies . She meets rich playboy Suresh who keeps pursuing her during jogging , studying , running , shopping . Slowly after a couple of duets , she too falls for him after initial hesitation. Suresh, it seems is genuinely interested in her . They decide to get married with his mother's blessings . More than half the movie is about how he chases her. Very soon he dies in a freak accident and she is left alone to fend for herself with a 5 year old daughter . She lives by managing her estates and plantations .Mohan enters the scene as a manager to her estates . He is an escaped convict and is hiding from the law . He gets drawn towards reticent Nalini . He tries his best to woo her . Though initially hesitant , Finally she relents . When she realises that he is a convict ,she calls the police and asks him to finish his sentence first before marrying him indirectly giving her consent . Finally both are united. Nalini is slim and wears two plaits during her student days .She is seen mostly in sarees otherwise . Kuyili is pretty as always as a friend of both Nalini and Mohan advising them to get together . Her husky voice is a plus for her bold features .. One of early roles of Ramya Krishnan where she plays the love interest of Mohan . He is caught by police when he kills her accidentally in a fight with her family . The best thing about Mohan has always been his voice . Suresh is perfect and likeable as a prankster . Senthil's comedy track looks forced and long drawn . The back ground is lush and green . A fine family movie .
