A long time ago in ancient China noble dragons ruled over temples lost in the clouds. During an annual ceremony, these celestial creatures drew in wonderful flames burning sacred powder. A severe human judge had the difficult task of selecting them. At the end, the most talented dragons had the honor of performing during the New Year's celebration in front of an amazed audience. There was one little dragon who could not seem to ignite the powder. He sneezed often. The little dragon tried eating hot peppers, blowing on torches, capturing hot coals and sparking flint. Finally, he created a chemical compound which created a colorful smoke. On the day of the competition, other dragons used the sacred powder to create bright displays of light figures and formations in the sky. Just as the little dragon was about to back out of the competition, he was encouraged by a fellow competitor, but then tripped by another. His chemical container shattered. When the little dragon sneezed on it, a sparkle of lights briefly ignited. As the crowd and competition began to laugh and jeer, the little dragon brought out he even larger container of the chemical. He covered himself in the powder. When he sneezed, a huge fireworks display appeared. Nothing like it had ever been seen before. From that day, during the New Year celebration, people shoot colorful rockets into the sky, paying tribute to our little dragon, the creator of fireworks.
