We all know Washington is broken. Our federal government's spending, regulations and taxbreaks are deeply corrupted in favor of the special interests that lobby it. Fed up with the statusquo, Americans keep electing people who pledge to change it, to no avail. Why?With expert testimony from high-ranking officials, Unrepresented reveals that what is stopping theFederal government from enacting popular reforms is the corrupt way it is financed. Throughlarge investments in lobbying and election campaigns, special interests exercise undue controlover elected officials. In return, these same officials provide massive rewards to their investorswith spending and tax breaks financed by limitless debt obtained from banks, foreigngovernments and other wealthy financiers. This cycle of corruption gives unchecked politicalpower to unelected individuals.Unrepresented also introduces unprecedented movements to break this cycle. By passing laws atthe State-level, Americans are building momentum to force Congressional action on these issuesor to bypass it entirely by holding a Convention to amend the US Constitution. The film exposes how Democratic and Republican party leaders alike encourage the belief that thepolitical divide is wider than ever to help maintain control. Interviewees with perspectives fromacross the political spectrum show that most agree on passing basic reforms to outlaw thewanton corruption both parties practice, but Congress just won't pass them.Unrepresented presents the opportunities and challenges faced by the committed publicservants, nonpartisan activists, and everyday Americans working to fix the broken systembefore it's too late.
