Martin(John Savage) and Katlin's(Kate Connor) final encounter happens in their fashionable downtown loft. It appears Katlin is simply leaving her husband of twelve years for a younger lover. However, her premise for leaving rings more of honesty and bravery than sexual desire. The two have an honest, adult discussion on the conflicts between romantic love and commitment, and how we can utterly fail while doing what we believe is right and honest. They boil it down until one seeks simple understanding, the other a simple transition. They resignedly realize they'll achieve neither. Director, Jeffery Schultz's adaptation of the play 'For Old Time's Sake' by David MacGregor takes the plays premise further by switching the gender of the lead characters. And asks why do arguments made by a women resonate broadly while similar male positions are often dismissed. How are rolls in relationships being redefined today. What prejudices do we carry into our relationships, Is the pain that accompanies honesty worth it?
