10-year-old Olaf lives in a world where hiring family members and friends is common practice. For the right money, anyone can create the perfect illusion of happiness. When Rent a Life organizes a casting at Olaf's school, the boy does not hesitate for a moment - he intends to take part in it and at all costs get the role of a friend at a rich girl's birthday party. It will soon be seen that the price for participating in this illusion is high.
