Documentary feature on the life and works of painter Cícero Dias, from Pernambuco, one of the most important names of Brazilian fine arts of the 20th century. He led a most enthralling life: was one of the most important modern brazilian painters, befriended with the most important brazilian intellectuality (such as Gilberto Freyre, Murilo Mendes, Manuel Bandeira) and with great painters in Paris (especially Picasso, godfather to his only daughter). Consular officer in Marseille, helped Jewish refugees during World War II. And despite all this, he never forgot his hometown, Recife, and his most famous work have the following title: I saw the world, it begins in Recife.
