Two young actors, strangers thrown together in a casting, spend a fleeting summer rehearsing and learning to fall in love on stage. As they are gently guided by their director (cupid), their own feelings take over. The continuous audio throughout, are the words from a single scene in the play; read by our two actors, but each line cutting ahead in time, jumping from day to day as the summer progresses. This begins naively in their first casting through to rehearsals, learning alone, practicing together and finally ending together on stage on opening night. It's a scene in which they debate the nature of love, searching for its fundamental truth, as the pair are forced to navigate their own definitions off stage. There is a feeling that the world is one step ahead of the couple as both play the roles of lovers, but don't yet know one and other. A whole cast and crew are supporting their characters union on stage; building sets, fitting clothes, but as actors, the two are still exploring their friendship. Fate is almost overbearing as it throws them together in a casting. Picked to play lovers with cupid guiding them, but ultimately this experience is temporary and they both know it. When the summers is over it will be time to move on. Both actors are guarded against their developing feelings. Ultimately, they have to choose love over consequence, trusting in each other in the face of an uncertain future.
