After rescuing a Moor from the roadside, a water seller, Pedro, brings him home. The local gossip, Frederico, reports him to the local magistrate, and he stands trial for the crime, where the court takes his donkey Peco. The Moor then appears to Pedro to reveal to him the location of hidden treasure. However, he is caught with the treasure again by the Magistrate, and has to show them its location. Pedro tricks them into being sealed into the cave and escapes. He then returns to his simple life as a water seller.
