Olhos de Botão (Button Eyes, 2015) is a fictional suspense film, set in the seemingly serene countryside of Pernambuco, Brazil. An elderly couple, Miguel and Dora, lives in isolation with little to say to each other. One day Miguel finds a lost, homeless young girl near the farm, and the couple decides to take her in a decision that upends their routine and relationship. It's a great little haunting film that keeps you intrigued to the end. The three main characters provide a fascinating triangle of different emotions with an intense battle that grips the viewer between Dora and Julia throughout. A weel thought out and interesting concept, leaving frustrating but enjoyable questions for the viewer.
