London Calling explores how the birth, experience, and reconfiguration of personal moments are turned into our own intimate mythologies. Using my ever changing connection with the titular metropolis, London Calling follows the evolution of my personal myth of that city. Using cell phone camera footage and digital animation, London Calling explores: what initially drew me to the city, the reality of living in London, and upon my return to Canada how the recounted moments were re-shaped to re-new a mythology begun as a child. In an age when communication is instantaneous and new narratives continuously compete for attention, London Calling reawakens the understanding of how vital mythologies are to forming, adjusting, and re-configuring our connections with a still mysterious, busy, and complex world.
