Blind (2014)
04 Feb 2014 • Short, Drama • 0h 10m
An off screen filmmaker narrates the story of a movie he would like to make, devising the details of the story as he goes along. The story concerns a divorced blue collar father and his young teen daughter living in Moncton, New Brunswick. The daughter has a strained relationship with the father, perhaps because of she blaming him for the break up of her parents' marriage. The daughter's eyesight is slowly deteriorating, the father not telling her that her ophthalmologist has given her less than six months before she goes totally blind, his rationale for not telling her being so that she can retain her girlish spirit of life. Wanting to do something meaningful for his daughter, the father decides to pack up their life in Moncton, buy an RV, and drive across the country to the Rockies, as they are the biggest and most beautiful things he has ever seen, and he wants her to see them before she loses her sight. Not knowing her diagnosis, the daughter believes the father is going crazy, his want for them to embark on this trip which places a further strain on their relationship. The chasm between father and daughter widens and narrows as the trip progresses based on the understanding each has of the other and the knowledge each possesses.
