Epistrofi stin odo Aiolou (2013)
Short, Drama • 0h 14m
Where to even start with this absolute gem of a film. It is so strange how a movie composed from excerpts of classic Greek folk films of the 1950s can captivate us from start to finish. Why do I find that? Because the film is amazing until the end!But what makes the film so interesting: The voiceover and the musical piece. It's executed extremely well, to the point that I swear I even watched it thrice, especially the dance sequence. I had played it with the Caretaker's music running in the background. My gosh, it created a melancholic sense heightened by the amazing score from a long-lost era. The short film itself is a chilling one which as emotionally intense as it is, it is near impossible to feel anything negative. A delight of the past, but the situation is different now and I though perhaps the wounds will take time to heal before a possible new restart. To say much of this short film is to ruin it and I am excited to see what the director Maria Kourkouta does next. A utopian recommendation. There, I said it!
