King of Caravans (2013)
Documentary, Short, Biography • 0h 24m
King of Caravans offers a rare sensitive glimpse of real poverty in New Zealand. It's a picture of a place where people only go as a last resort, where hopes have evaporated into a limbo of emotional and physical subsistence. The film would be heartbreaking if it weren't for the pride and humor of the people in front of the camera. Meet Peter One, proud owner and operator of Bignell Caravan Park in Wangangui, Through sensitive observational cinematography this film interpolates Peter's view of caravan life with the raw, confronting, reality of a diverse array of transient residents. The result, is a challenging, contemplative film that explores universal and very human themes about power.
