To help him understand why his life is unravelling (separation, depression, suspension from his job), Daniel Delgado, an alcoholic teacher, embarks on an investigation of the case of an artist manager found guilty of murder. Seeking to understand the killers motives, Delgado uncovers the complex ties between murderer and victim. The film takes the form of a documentary, but spins dizzyingly before us like a Möbius strip. As revelations continue to emerge, the teacher (played by the director) finds himself caught up in the murders narrative and discovers deep links between the killer and himself. Relying on transfers of identity, doppelgangers and repetition, Uncontrollable is a dense and complex work about the complexities of mental illness.
