The Reconciliation with Me, my Sex and Them via Documentary CinematographyAs the consumers of reality, we have the chance to share identical social space, downright time and characteristics that are included in the prism known as the life. On the other hand, due to our individual differences, preferences and circumstances that life imposes on us, the level of difficulties, unique life paths and mechanisms of dealing with it are certainly dissimilar for everyone. In this complex process, we have learned to change our roles- Enes and Her uniqueness in relation to Herself, Enes and His oddity in relation to Them, or Enes and Its gender nonconformism in relation to Its gender identity. If we stick to the theoretical framework of Documentary Film as the field, the existence of something virtual and tonic that is the representation of our reality, regardless of the position that we are currently taking, will be more than obvious for us. In that sense, Documentary reality is Enes' reality, Filmmaker- Subjects- Audience relationships are Enes' Decision maker- The Observed- The Receptor positions. Depending on the position with which I am the most settled down, that position will be the most objective representation of myself and it will be perceived as the representation of my reality by the observers. Inversely, the filmmaker with reconciled internal disputes observed by the others, will be perceived as a "good filmmaker" and the goodness in a documentary sense means necessarily the objectivity that is the most sacred characteristic that one documentary film director might have in the eyes of Others.In the fashion of my interest, which includes the combination of Queer Studies and Queer Cinema, Me, My Sex and I (2011) was the recent trigger of thinking about cooperation among various disciplines, positions and approaches. Beginning with the childhood perspective of the newborns with sexual/gender ambiguity, this documentary informs the audience that there is more than simply male and female. It perfectly answers the question How? thanks to the collaboration with medical experts (gynecologists, urologists, clinical psychologists) that provides a scientific explanation of phenomenon, but also the individuals and their parents who relate to their own experience and personal stories. In the same context, the audience can observe the real people ( people who actually have congenital sexual disorder, their parents and the experts who has been working in that field), as well as the unreal people with real stories (the actors who are playing the roles of the people who did not feel comfortable to be in front of the cameras, but still consider important to share their experience and help the others who are suffering the same and inform the others who are completely unfamiliar with this subject).Enes Lukac Sociology and Film Studies Bogazici University Istanbul, Turkey
