Hu dan zhui hun (1974)
Action, Adventure
A guy wanders into a few people playing cards off the street. For some reason they are raided by the police. Our guy saves the card shark but wants the $20 he won. He takes him to his gang for the money but they fight. The boss comes in and resolves it by hiring him. He ends up working in a coal mine that seems to be a front for a counterfeiting operation. He is really an undercover policeman.Though the movie's timeframe is contemporary they managed to avoid guns. That's always a good thing because guns and martial arts movies don't mix. The action is all fist fights and brawls. It all looks the same starting with the second fight. The action never gets any better than just average for 1974.I bought this movie over a year ago. Watching it the first time I started "fast forward" about 20 minutes into it. I did not write a review at that time because I did not really watch it properly. Today I watched it again, start to finish. The experience left me wondering why I ever bought this movie in the first place. There are no top names and it is a totally forgotten film from the 1970s. I can't remember how I came across the title and why I paid for it.Today this film would only draw the attention of a hard core fan of martial arts movies of the golden age from 1967 to 1984. I cannot recommend this movie to such a fan or anyone else. I watched it and wrote my review. On posting my review I have completely forgotten the movie and do not plan to watch it again ever.
