Specky Four-Eyes (2010)
25 Mar 2011 • Animation, Short • 0h 9m
Arnaud, a shy, quiet young boy is diagnosed with myopia and is prescribed corrective glasses. However, the glasses are large and bulky and make him the object of relentless teasing in school. When Arnaud takes off his glasses, he makes up for his shortsightedness by imagining objects in front of him as fantastical creatures. An inanimate seashell of his becomes a live pet sidekick who rides in his pocket. His backpack hanging on a rack becomes a troll. A fish logo reflected in a puddle becomes a unicorn. However, when Arnaud unknowingly ventures into the streets at night with his glasses off, a train nearly runs into him stopping just yards in front of him, which Arnaud imagines to be a dragon he's subdued. He is then picked up by the police and, at the police station, chastised by his parents for not wearing his glasses. Arnaud acquiesces to wear his glasses from now on. However, at night, after taking them off, Arnaud sees the unicorn braying on his ceiling and galloping off. Arnaud's pet sidekick, who has been narrating the story, watches over him as Arnaud drifts off to sleep.
