An epic tale of countless deportations of Poles, Ukrainians and Jews to Siberia during WWII. The fate of the displaced families is shown from the point of view of a young boy named Staszek. He is sent to Siberia with his family and neighbors from a small village in the eastern Polish borderlands. Together with his companions, he starts the struggle for survival, in which the most fearsome opponents turn out to be merciless nature and deadly famine. The circumstances force the boy to reevaluate his life and grow up faster. Not only does he have to learn how to survive but also choose between two girls: the Jewish one named Cynia and the Russian girl called Luybka.
