La légende des ondines (1911)
Short, Fantasy • 0h 6m
The young prince is warm and courteous. The high-born maiden who, presumably, he is to marry, doesn't seem particularly thrilled by the idea. The go walking to get to know each better, but she seems more interested in picking flowers than conversation, and then she wants to take a nap. What could be more natural than for him to go on a bit of a walk down to the shore, where his entire life is in the hands of great forces crashing against the rocks? There he spots an undine, which is apparently a beautiful woman dressed in a gauzy nightie, who looks at him and then flees into the water? It's very well produced in a style that was going out of style, with stagy acting and beautiful costumes and carefully painted sets. It's good to see the style, in a well preserved and hand-tinted print, before such things became scarce.
