Setting: Venezuela, in the second half of the nineteenth century. Disputes between Liberals and Conservatives marked the political agenda. Social inequalities inherited from colonial times have kept peasants and slaves under the yoke of the Oligarchy. Ezequiel Zamora, mobilized by the profound ideals of freedom, leads a struggle trying to erase the gap between the opulence of the rich and the misery of the poor, and fair allocation of land.
