In 1916, Nelly Don created a fashion empire and became one of the most wealthy and celebrated American women in business. She had a secret affair with a U.S. Senator and then bore his child, she was kidnapped and then rescued by gangsters, she fought unions and made most of the women's uniforms in WWII.
