Designed by the German architecture firm, Herzog and de Meuron, and the Chinese contemporary artist and activist, Ai Weiwei, the Memory Marathon, the seventh annual celebration of memory, ideas, art, and history, began on Friday 12th October 2012. The three-day event, held at the Serpentine Gallery in London, featured more than 60 participants, including the American filmmaker, David Lynch, who presented an animated exploration of memory through a surreal collage of moving paintings. The Memory Marathon was dedicated to British historian, social theorist, and author, Eric Hobsbawm.
