Daniyar is a poet at 40 passed. He dreams of success and wide recognition, but in fact he stuck in a stuffy office of a small surviving newspaper. His colleagues complain that the time of literature and poetry is in the past and no one needs them in this century of high technologies and consumption.Daniyar still hopes that his works might reach and inspire young minds and lead some of them through the dark times. But his own children spend all their free time in internet-games and barely pay attention to their father. Our poet seems lonely and useless not only to this century but also to his family. Only his mother, who came from a little village for a week to visit her grandchildren, supports her son and assures that there are still people with hunger of reading.Daniyar plunges into a book about one famous Kazakh poet of XIX century - Makhambet Utemisov, who rebelled against the authorities and was violently repressed for this and was off with his head in front of his wife and son. And even if after such a death the destiny of his flesh was also torturing, Makhambet's poems survived through years and gave him an endless memory and admiration of next generations. Daniyar feels a strong connection with Makhambet and believes in his challenging mission in this world. One day Daniyar shares with his mother some good news - he received an invitation to his author's evening in one provincial town in the South of Kazakhstan. He feels proud and ready to impress the connoisseurs of his poems.
