In the deep dense forest stood a hut. There lived the Mother Bear with her bear cub Toptyzhka. The Bear was fast asleep, what else are bears doing in the winter? But Toptyzhka could not sleep. And he decided that he himself would go to see what was being done there in this world. He came out, the white-white snow lies all around, and the sun shines brightly. Toptyzhka went for a walk and met the hare Blacktail. They began to play together and skate from the snowy mountains, and became friends. The day was wonderful.
