Doc short. Mama Zawadi helps care for the orphaned chimpanzees in one of the most dangerous parts of the DR Congo. We learn of her mistreatment at the hands of rebels and come to understand that she needs the babies as much as they need her.The doc begins and ends with scenes of happy baby chimpanzees climbing all over mama but the middle has a long recounting of her treatment of capture, rape and imprisonment, which I guess you could say, makes a very dark turn for the film.
