In response to the 40th anniversary of the Dukes of Hazzard and his hatred for the 2005 movie which I thought was awesome, John Schneider who played the original Bo Duke decided to make a movie based on the show that made him famous. After watching the movie, I was extremely disappointed by this rip-off movie. Instead of trying to work out a deal with Warner Bros who own the rights to the Dukes of Hazzard, John just went ahead and made this abomination of a movie that wants to be a Dukes of Hazzard movie. In this movie, John plays a character named Uncle Denver, who is a failed TV star who is about to lose his property due to not being able to make enough money. He and his student friends get the idea of selling autographed diecast General Lee models. Also helping Uncle Denver is Mindy Robinson, who for some reason was casted into this movie. For those who don't know, Mindy has been featured in many inappropriate movies and is even shown in this movie with some inappropriate clothing. Bad idea for this movie who is likely targeted for families. Another bad idea of this movie that John incorporated was how he treated the General Lee in this movie. In this movie, John has the General Lee go out of control due to his brakes being sabotaged and does something horrific for any Dukes fan, worse than the 2005 and 2007 movies. In this movie, John decided to rip-off "the top came off" scene from Smokey and the Bandit and has the General Lee get decapitated with a tree sheering off the roof with the rebel flag on the roof. Now I really love the flag and it is a very important historical artifact from American history, but the what John did to one of the most famous cars in the world is blasphemous. Thankfully the General Lee Charger was actually a Ford Crown Vic with Charger sheet metal on top of it, but the point is that John, Bo Duke literally destroys the General Lee in the most horrific way and shame on him for that. I don't know why he didn't just jump it into a lake as a reference to The Ghost of the General Lee episode from the Dukes show, but no he decapitates the true star of that show. The movie is also horribly edited, filmed, and the acting was pure garbage on everybody's part. It seems that no one in this movie received any training or guidance at all. Its also sad that none of the other cast members from the Dukes tv return for this movie, except for Byron Cherry who is the only good part of the movie and he did a good job acting in this cheap production. If you are a Dukes of Hazzard fan, don't bother with this movie. Its nothing but a cheap rip off of the Dukes of Hazzard that fails to capture much of the charm that made the original show so memorable. Its also very criminal to see the guy who played Bo Duke wreck the General Lee in the worst way possible, which makes me appreciate the 2005 movie even more.
