B.K.S. Iyengar: Uniting Through Yoga (2019)
19 Sep 2019 • Documentary • 1h 14m
In the buildup to the celebrations to commemorate Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar's birth centenary on 14th December 2018, the question was asked as to how individual practitioners over the world perceive the man and the art-form. A few had spent years with him, some may have had just a few glimpses, and many others would have been transformed by merely following the path he'd laid out. This film was thus put together using crowd-sourced material from practitioners of Iyengar Yoga from all over the world. Students who were given a chance to record their impressions of the impact that Guruji and Iyengar Yoga have had on their lives, with the objective of gleaning different facets of the man, thereby weaving a narrative to demystify him for future generations. After collecting over a 100 hours of crowd-sourced and archival material from over 500 participants, including the Iyengar family and his oldest living students, this film attempts to both explore a legacy and exhibit the emotional and spiritual connectivity amongst the practitioners of Iyengar Yoga all over the world.
