This documentary looks at a situation where an American university gynaecologist abused his patients over decades of his time at the university; the film follows an investigation by the LA Times which exposed not only that, but the failings in how the University itself dealt with the situation when they were eventually forced to deal with it. It rolls these two aspects together pretty well, mainly by consistently staying with a small number of individuals making contributions. These are well selected, well edited, and well used because they carry an emotional punch but at the same time have the clear-headed determination that was probably part of them as individuals being able to stand up and tell their stories even when they weren't making progress.Although the film notes that individuals at USC declined to be comment for this film, to be honest it is probably better without them, because the failings to protect were pretty clear, and I guess any official contribution would not have been of much value. An engaging documentary overall; it focuses on the victims, and allows the viewer to understand the struggles, the thoughts, and their frustrations at reactions.
