The story centers around a woman in a strained romantic relationship with a handsome civil engineer (a very respectable job at the time - approximately equivalent to being a software engineer today!). She is uncertain if she wished to remain in their relationship. Her mother in law also plays a strong role.The two main characters were played by famously attractive actors of the time. Upon release, it was considered a typical love story, not intended to be particularly artistic. At least that's what I was told.The film is very aesthetically pleasing, the sound was well recorded and the acting definitely caught my attention. The dream sequences are particularly surreal.I believe the film is not subtitled in English, but it definitely deserves more attention. It seems to have been ignored both in Taiwan and elsewhere. if you want to see an aesthetically pleasing, tragic love film with a shocking ending, take any chance to watch it.
