Der Lebensversicherer (2006)

If you get a chance see this low budget film noir. It is very well acted and the story is bleak but charming. the main actor is amazing and I saw him playing the role of a priest in another German flick. I liked the humour as well. Very dark, but, oddly enough, uplifting as well, since there is a sense of redemption in the main character's loss and discovery of love. Anyone who has ever had a job selling will immediately identify with the plight of the protagonist. He despairs at the humiliation of the work he has to do, while trying to live on a hope sitting at the other end of a phone line in an apparently empty apartment. Really a striking and haunting movie that will stay with you for months to come.
