It's Eddie Dunn running around a hospital in this Arrow Comedy. Dunn was one of the numerous Chaplin imitators and he maintained bits and pieces of the Chaplin character ca. 1915. In his case, it was the mustache and derby. He was a competent screen comic, though and this comedy, directed by Eddie Lyons, is chock-a-block with gags. None is original, but they are all performed competently. If you don't like this one, there will be another along in a few seconds.Because this was an Arrow comedy, it was intended for the states rights market, sold directly to the film exchanges. It quickly fell out of copyright and by the 1960s, the clip of Eddie riding a stretcher up and down hills was a clip frequently used in television ads local used car salesmen on the non-network channels around New York. With the poor prints still circulating, he looked enough like Chaplin to convince people to buy a used car. Which pretty much sums up both the used car lots and Eddie's style of comedy.
