The Guide (1921)
01 May 1921 • Short, Comedy • 0h 20m
Clyde Cook seems to be the entire staff of a Swiss gasthaus: desk clerk, bellhop and alpine guide to Edgar Kennedy and Lois Scott when they come a-visiting, looking for hole for Swiss cheese. There are some fine pratfalls -- Cook was among the greats of silent tumblers -- and some fun with animals. Those who seek out old comedies will be pleased to see this one; Fox Films was among the leaders of the majors when it came to silent comedy. Surprisingly, very few of their silent shorts survive. Those of you who seek out ancient comedies might see that this borrows a number of shots from EUROPEAN REST CURE from 904!
