Having collected his wages, a man proceeds to spend a goodly part of them at a bar; and having done so, he makes his unsteady way in what he can only hope will be homeward in this funny and well-constructed early slapstick film. This is the second slapstick film by M. Lepine that I have seen and since the same heavy-set man is the subject each time, I'm going to suggest that it's the director of this fine little comedy. Like the other, I HAVE LOST MY GLASSES, it offers the viewer the standard unornamented pratfalls of the era, but it keeps them within human bounds and it offers some understandable reason for the comedian getting into this fix, and some consolation in the realization that although the comical character may wake with a few bruises, he has earned them, and he will heal.
