Daddy is at home with a busted knee, so little Tonino Giolino negotiates sick pay for him with the boss. Then he picks up a job as a movie star. This makes him absent from school, so he gets into trouble, even though he brings home all the money.Again, as in my review of THE LITTLE WARDEN, I'm guessing it's Tonino Giolino who's the little kid. A lot of the cast is repeated, so it's hard to tell. He was popular enough that when his movies played in Holland, he had a Dutch name attached to him: Toontje. Child stars were a new thing in this period. On the stage, some actresses continued to play children into their forties, but the camera's eye was much more revealing, and the cute, pageboy-hair kid seems to have been popular enough in his day.I still think it's too cute.
