I'm not sure what's going on in this Italian two-reeler because it showed up on Youtube with Dutch titles. It seems to be the story of an unfortunate love affair. The acting is restrained and if I can't make that much sense of it, which I blame on differences in cinema acting between Italy and the US. I'm much more used to slapstick comedies from Italy and epics in this period. So what is notable about this movie? Every scene is tinted: yellow outdoors; sepia and blue indoors (presumably indicating time of day); green and purple in a garden. Even the titles are tinted red.The late film historian Leslie Halliwell reported on a Russian film from this era in which every scene was tinted, except for a suicide. Apparently it was a standard practice in Europe at this time, probably to compete with the various color processes that were being tried out.
