Slim and Mustang are rivals for the affections of Sophie, the cook at the O.K. Hotel. One afternoon Slim sees Mustang wearing his Sunday clothes, ride up to the front of the hotel and go in tor Sophie. Slim follows and when Mustang finds that Sophie is not quite ready, he goes into the bar for a drink. Slim then hurriedly writes a note telling Sophie that he will be unable to take her riding, but that Slim will accompany her. He signs Mustang's name. Sophie soon comes downstairs, and, after reading the note, goes out with Slim, Mustang soon emerges from the barroom and sees Slim helping Sophie to mount his horse. Mustang raises the alarm and all his friends come to his rescue. They chase Slim until he is glad to take refuge in the muddy river.
