Frits jr. is born, but when he is still just a young child, his mother leaves him and his father. All through Frits' youth, his father pretends that Marianne died at his birth. Young Frits grows up to be a professional football player. The night he finds out his mother is still alive, he and his father get into a car accident, that leaves the father crippled.
