"Cinderella" played out at a contemporary L.A. high school, where Cindy and her gay friend Justin are the only two kids not going to the prom. Cindy is teased mercilessly by her step-mother and step-sisters. On prom night, Justin dresses Cindy as a young man and loans her his dad's orange VW bug, which she must return by midnight. At the prom, Cindy is unrecognized and dances with her heartthrob, Laurie, the prom queen.
