The Ten Commandments Number 7: Thou Shalt Not Steal (1995) *** (out of 4) Funny message film from Phil Mulloy takes a look at a small town in Mississippi, which quickly skyrockets due to a company moving into town but after a stock market crash everyone begins to kill themselves after losing everything. Soon, another man is about to kill himself but before doing so he wants to see why some appear to be so happy. I've been lukewarm at the very least on this series from Mulloy but there are a couple standouts and this here is one of them. I guess it's really no shock that the two I've enjoyed so far were also the ones running the least amount of time as it appears the stories seem to fit best in a three or four minute period. That turns out to be true here because what we have is a pretty funny little short as long as you have the sense of humor to go along with it. There's a brutally funny sequence where everyone in the town kills themselves in different ways and just look at the animation during these death scenes. It's crude but it's so fitting for the material that you can't help but laugh at what's going on. The final message in the picture is very clear but I think Mulloy does a very good job at not becoming preachy and instead just uses a few scenes to say what he wants.
