The Ten Commandments Number 2: Thou Shalt Not Commit Blasphemy (1995)** (out of 4) The second film in Phil Mulloy's series suffers pretty much the same fate as the previous one. This time out our hero is trying to repair his broken window so he steals the cross from over the church and soon God strikes down with his vengeance. It seems pretty clear that this series is going for the build-up and then the punchline comes at the very end when God finally gets even for the main guy going against him. I'm sure many would be offended by this short but it's actually not all that shocking and especially when you compare it to some of the director's earlier works. With that said, the problem here is that there simply aren't any laughs to be had. The entire build-up really wasn't all that funny and I really didn't think the writing was quite where it should have been. The thing with the cross could have played out in so many ways but here it just adds up to nothing much. The payback from God is mildly amusing in a Mulloy type of way but I certainly won't spoil what happens. Lets just say that the rain was an interesting way to look at things.
