I know already that this is NOT a film for everyone, but if you have a quirky sense of humor, then I STRONGLY advise you to see THE GIRLS GUITAR CLUB! It's so funny and quirky and likable--you can't help but love it.The film is about two young ladies who have ambitions of stardom as singers. It really looks as if they saw the movies JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS and BILL AND TED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE and just imagined it was that easy to become superstars. The problem is that they have not a single ounce of talent and haven't even yet learned to play their guitars! However, instead of being grating or painful, hearing them play is great because the lyrics are so funny and they are so incredibly unaware of themselves. One part I particularly liked was when they were singing at a guy who was an independent musician. He could hear them exactly as they were, but when you heard what the two ladies heard, it sounded amazingly different! Cute, clever, amazingly well-written--I really want to see more from the folks that made this wonderful short film.
