The Sexlife of a Chair (1997) ** 1/2 (out of 4) Once you come familiar with the work of director Phil Mulloy you will see that his films often come with a message while at other times they're just dirty jokes. This one here runs a little over seven-minutes and features various sexual acts, all done by a chair. The jokes in this animated short are extremely hit and miss but I think enough of them work in order to make the film worth sitting through at least once. Some of the better jokes include the ones on anal sex, group sex and another dealing with voyeurism. Some of the weaker ones include group sex, bestiality and the fetish one. As you can tell, the jokes are all of the sexual nature but the only thing is that they're performed by a chair. Obviously this film isn't going to be for kids but I think some adults might find it clever and amusing but there's no question that many are just going to be turned off and offended. The animation is in the same style as other work from Mulloy and while it takes some time getting used to I think in the end it fits the subjects quite well.
