Buddy Elder is an aspiring Olympic high-diving hopeful who has a devastating secret: alcoholism. The social effects of peer pressure are explored as Buddy frequently enjoys long drinking binges with his friends, as are the consequences. His rationale: "All the kids do it." Eventually, Buddy seems to have learned his lesson when he gets a painful reminder that may put a permanent end to his Olympic dreams.
