The title of this movie can be loosely translated as: Fortune.In order to fully understand this movie, we need to know some traditional Chinese cultural practice first. In ancient Chinese culture, it is a tradition to carry a jewelry made of jade with you for good luck. Each type of jade jewelry has its own particular shape, style, size, and accordingly, its own meaning. For example, some are for having healthy babies, some are for education (passing exams), some are for getting good jobs, and some are for accumulating wealth, and some for love/romance.The jade jewelry carried by protagonist in this movie has the symbolic meaning in that they are called Fortune, representing the hope of those who carry them are fortunate to have a good spouse, but as the harsh reality of the actual life, such hope often does not materialize.
