'Jesus is my Boss' is a breath of fresh air in a largely untouched genre. Before seeing this film, I was doubtful as to how true to other Yakuza films it would be - thinking that in hopes of attracting it's Christian audience, it would take away from the raw brutality of such gang-life. However, in watching it, I was pleasantly surprised. The film not only has a wonderful Christian message of hope and freedom in Christ, but also contains scenes of violence and action that I had come to expect from other Yakuza-based films. Whilst the action is definitely not the reason for buying this film, it does help in making it watchable and enjoyable. The story is never dull, with plenty to excite - hitting the perfect mean between being a movie and a testimony of the peace of repentance in a world of sin.
