Hwaryeohan wichul (1978)

I recently saw this film at a retrospective for the director at the Busan International Film Festival, and I have to say, it was awesome. At times Lynchian and often Bunuelian, the film follows a young woman from her lofty executive position in an important corporation in Seoul to a nightmarish stay on a remote island off the coast of Korea. The film explores feminism in a fresh way, although it was made in 1977. I think this film has been largely overlooked, and deserves some critical attention from film theorists and feminists.
