Through interviews with actors, exhibitors, researchers and directors, the film tells the story of cinemas and movie theaters in Rio de Janeiro. Takes the viewer on a journey from 1898, when the first permanent establishment - the Salão de Novidades Paris Rio - opened its doors on Ouvidor Street; through the heyday of Avenida Rio Branco, the glamour of Cinelândia, the success of the chanchada genre, the suburban movie theaters, the grand palatial cinemas of the mid 20th century, the art film houses, the cinematheques; and right up to the shift of the entertainment hub to Rio's South Zone, the arrival of TV and the security of shopping mall cinemas. Finally, a glimpse at the new dream spaces, the multiplex and the future of movie exhibition. The film shows the evolution and transformation of movie-going habits and concludes that, after more than a century, that's still entertainment!
