The action takes place in one of the villages of Ossetia in the 17th century. Being illegitimate by origin, Chermen is trying with all his might to defend his human dignity. He is opposed by Dakko, the elder of the Aldar clan, in whose village Chermen lives. Dakko enters into an agreement with the prince Tsaray for selfish reasons. Together, they rob people, and then divide the loot among themselves. Chermen accidentally learns about this conspiracy and informs his friends about it. At first, he thinks that no one in the Aldar village will believe him, the illegitimate one, and the conspiracy will remain unsolved. But friends get into the fray.
