Years of neglect and a long string of deaths have almost ruined the once-lavish mansion of the Ronas' affluent family. Now, after the end of WWII and decades of absence, the grizzled former captain of the Greek Cavalry Division, Yorgos, returns to his hometown of Athens and the cherished place of bygone times, only to come face-to-face with the harsh truth, and the estate's weary keeper, Thimios. Little by little, the two men reminisce about old times, Yorgos' long-lost love, Maria, and her unknown nineteen-year-old daughter. But, many years ago, two best friends lost touch for the sake of a woman, and a double sacrifice stained the future of an innocent. Can Yorgos find the whereabouts of the young girl?
