Do you hate it when you go to the movie theater and have to put up with advertisements? I know I do. But these are not new in the history of the cinema. The first advertising movies were produced in the 19th century for Sunlight Soap and Admiral Cigarettes and such artists as Ken Lye did movie commercials for the Post Office and George Pal for Phillips Radio. So this Czech advertising cartoon for Saponia Soap is nothing new. And, in its first half, it's fairly good as an experimental abstract movie. Then begins the voice-over with the hard sell and, while I have no idea what they are saying, it seems to be saying much the same as every ad: buy our product.
